LinkedIn SSI (Social Selling Index)
LinkedIn's Social Selling Index (SSI) is a score from 0 to 100 that rates how well a member uses LinkedIn for selling, based on four pillars: establishing a professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights and building relationships.
What Is LinkedIn SSI (Social Selling Index)?
In short LinkedIn scores four pillars, each worth up to 25 points: establishing your professional brand (a complete, customer-focused profile and useful posts), finding the right people (searching for and reaching relevant decision makers), engaging with insights (sharing and discussing relevant content) and building relationships (connecting with and keeping in touch with the right people).
The four add up to your SSI.
You can see your score at linkedin.com/sales/ssi. The dashboard breaks it down by pillar and shows how you compare with people in your industry and in your network.
LinkedIn SSI Example
SSI = professional brand + finding the right people + engaging with insights + building relationships (each pillar worth up to 25 points, total 0 to 100)Example: an SDR has an SSI of 42: brand 8, people 14, insights 6 and relationships 14. Over 6 weeks they complete their profile, post once a week and comment on prospects' posts most days. In this example the score rises to 63, with the biggest gains in brand and insights.
LinkedIn SSI in Practice
Treat it as a habit tracker, not a goal. A high SSI does not book meetings by itself, and padding it with mass connection requests mostly adds noise. What it rewards, a strong profile, targeted connections and regular engagement, is what makes LinkedIn outreach work, because prospects look at your profile before they accept a request or reply.
FAQ
How do I check my LinkedIn SSI score?
Sign in to LinkedIn and open linkedin.com/sales/ssi. The dashboard shows your total score, the four pillar scores and how you rank against your industry and your network.
What is a good LinkedIn SSI score?
LinkedIn does not publish an official cutoff. Use the industry and network rankings on your dashboard as the benchmark, and work on the pillar where you score lowest.
What are the four pillars of LinkedIn SSI?
Establish your professional brand, find the right people, engage with insights and build relationships. Each is worth up to 25 points, for a total of 100.
Do you need Sales Navigator to see your SSI?
No. LinkedIn says the Social Selling Index is available to anyone who wants to check it.
How can I improve my LinkedIn SSI?
Work on your lowest pillar: complete your profile with the customer in mind and post useful content, search for and connect with relevant decision makers, comment on and share industry posts, and stay in touch with your network.
