Reply.io Alternatives: Pick the Half You Actually Need
Jason AI lists at 14x Reply's $59 sequencer. Add the data the sequencer leaves out and the gap falls to 2.3x to 3.1x. The best alternative to each half.

Reply.io's pricing page sells two products. One reaches 1,000 new contacts a month for $59. The other reaches the same 1,000 people for $800.
The best Reply.io alternative depends on which half you're replacing: Instantly or Lemlist for the sequencer, AiSDR or Agent Frank for Jason AI, and a done-for-you service like Ken if you want people doing the work.
I priced both halves. On Reply's own price list, Jason costs 14 to 28 times more per contact than the sequencer. That gap is misleading, because the sequencer doesn't include the contact data you need to fill it. Buy that data from Reply at Reply's prices, add inboxes, and Jason's real premium drops to 2.3x to 3.1x. So the choice isn't really about price. It's about who finds the leads, who writes the emails and who checks them before they go out.
I also read every 1 to 3 star Reply.io review I could find on two review sites, 59 after removing duplicates. Nearly two in three complain about support or billing. Two mention the AI.
What are you actually buying from Reply.io?
Reply.io sells a sequencer and an AI SDR under one roof. A sequencer is software that sends your emails and follow-ups on a schedule. You bring the list and the words. An AI SDR, short for AI sales development rep, finds the leads, writes the emails and answers replies for you.
Reply.io bills both halves by "active contacts," meaning unique people who get a first email in a billing month. Follow-ups to those people don't count again. The prices below come from Reply's own pricing file, checked October 2026.
| Reply.io plan | Half | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Email Volume | Sequencer | $59 (1,000 contacts) to $999 (100,000) | $49 to $899 | Unlimited connected inboxes, warmup, 50 data credits |
| Multichannel | Sequencer | $99 per user | $89 per user | Unlimited contacts, 5 inboxes (10 on annual), 1 LinkedIn account and dialer per user |
| Jason AI SDR Starter | AI SDR | $800 to $1,500 (1,000 to 3,000 contacts) | $500 to $1,000 | Contact data, 2 to 7 LinkedIn accounts, autopilot or copilot mode |
| Jason AI SDR Growth | AI SDR | $2,500 to $5,000 (5,000 to 10,000 contacts) | $1,500 to $3,000 | Same, plus 10 to 25 LinkedIn accounts and a Slack channel |
| Add-ons | Both | LinkedIn $69 per account, calls $29 per user, data credits $39 to $599 |
Here's what surprised me. The sequencer plans already list AI help, including an AI sequence builder, AI personalization and AI reply handling. So the real difference between the two halves isn't AI writing. It's who finds the leads and who decides when to hit send.
Is Jason AI really 14 times more expensive?
Jason AI costs about 2.3 to 3.1 times more than doing the same work yourself on Reply, not 14 times. The sticker comparison leaves out the biggest cost of the sequencer route, which is contact data.
The Email Volume plan includes 50 data credits a month. Finding one email address costs 2 credits, according to Reply's limits page, and a miss is refunded. So 1,000 new contacts need about 2,000 credits, and the smallest pack that covers that is $219 a month. Add five inboxes at Reply's price of $5 each, plus two domains, and the do-it-yourself setup comes to about $304 a month. Jason costs $800 for the same 1,000 contacts.
Source: Reply.io pricing file and limits page, monthly list prices, checked October 2026, n = 5 pricing tiers. Assumes 3 emails per contact, 30 emails per inbox per day, 22 sending days and 3 inboxes per domain. Data bought in Reply's credit packs, inboxes at $5 a month.
Look at the green slices. Data is 72% to 77% of the do-it-yourself bill at every volume. The sequencer itself is the cheap part. Jason's price per contact also stops falling at $0.50, while the do-it-yourself cost keeps sliding down to $0.16.
The gap shrinks further in two cases. On annual billing it's 1.6x to 1.9x, because Jason's annual price is 33% to 40% below its monthly price, while the sequencer's is only 10% to 17% below. And if you'd actually use the LinkedIn accounts Jason includes, the gap falls to 1.4x to 1.8x, since Reply charges $69 a month for each LinkedIn account on the sequencer plans.
One caveat cuts the other way. Jason's plan lists "unlimited mailboxes," but the pricing page doesn't say whether the mailboxes themselves are paid for. If you'd have to buy them for Jason too, the gap is 2.4x to 3.2x.
The ratio stays flat as you grow. The dollar gap doesn't. Here's how many hours a month Jason has to save you, if your time is worth $100 an hour.
| New contacts a month | Jason's premium, monthly billing | Hours it must save | Jason's premium, annual billing | Hours it must save |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $496 | 5 | $206 | 2 |
| 2,000 | $680 | 7 | $290 | 3 |
| 3,000 | $950 | 10 | $460 | 5 |
| 5,000 | $1,683 | 17 | $693 | 7 |
| 10,000 | $3,385 | 34 | $1,405 | 14 |
At 1,000 contacts that's a low bar. Five hours a month is one slow afternoon of list building. At 10,000 contacts on monthly billing, Jason has to replace about four working days a month. The harder bar is quality, because every email it sends has to be as good as one you'd write yourself.
What do unhappy Reply.io customers complain about?
Unhappy Reply.io customers mostly complain about support, billing and bugs. Almost none complain about the AI.
Reply.io is well rated overall. It scores 4.6 on Trustpilot across 265 reviews, with 85% at 4 or 5 stars, and Reply reports 4.6 on G2 across 1,448 reviews. So I went looking at the unhappy tail. I read every English 1 to 3 star review on Trustpilot and every 1 to 3 star review among the 516 Reply reviews that SoftwareFinder shows. After removing duplicates, that left 59. Then I tagged each one by what it complained about.
Source: Trustpilot, all English 1 to 3 star reviews, 2020 to 2026, n = 35, and SoftwareFinder, 1 to 3 star reviews, 2019 to 2024, n = 24. Checked October 2026. A review can raise several complaints. The thin lines show 95% confidence intervals, the range the true share probably sits in with a sample this small.
Of the 59 reviews, 38 raise a support or billing problem. That's 64%, or 68% if you count complaints about price. The stories repeat. Support is slow or never answers. Refunds get refused. In one case there was no cancel button in the app at all. And 61% raise a problem with the product itself, mostly bugs and an interface that's hard to learn. Just 2 of 59 mention the AI.
Eight of the 59 are about annual contracts or auto-renewals that caught people out. Two are from 2022, when reviewers say Reply only offered annual billing. That detail matters for Jason, because annual billing is where Jason gets cheap. The cheapest way to buy Jason is the same kind of commitment those eight reviewers regret.
I wouldn't read the low AI count as praise for Jason. Across the 516 SoftwareFinder reviews, Jason comes up by name only 4 times. Very few people have publicly reviewed the AI half at all. One 5-star review from September 2024 says, "I still end up editing or rewriting its suggestions." So even a happy customer rewrites the AI's drafts.
Two habits are worth keeping, whichever tool you pick. Read the renewal and cancellation terms before you start a trial. And if you buy an AI SDR, run it in copilot mode first, where you approve each message before it sends. Jason has that mode, and Agent Frank lists one too.
Which half do you actually need?
You need the sequencer half if you can run outreach yourself. You need the AI SDR half if you can't, and you trust software to do it for you. Here's how I'd decide.
| If this sounds like you | You need | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| You know your buyer, can write a good email, and have a few hours a week | Sequencer | Instantly for email, Lemlist for email plus LinkedIn |
| You run outreach for several clients | Sequencer | Smartlead, which adds client workspaces from its $94 Pro plan |
| You like Reply but not the Jason price | Sequencer | Stay on Email Volume and budget for data |
| You have no time and want software to prospect, write and reply | AI SDR | AiSDR Solo to test, Agent Frank for volume |
| You're a bigger team that wants a managed AI SDR | AI SDR | 11x |
| You want the work done, but by people who check every email | Done for you | Ken |
If you can't yet describe your buyer in one sentence, neither half will save you. An AI SDR will just send the confusion faster.
What are the best Reply.io alternatives?
The best Reply.io alternatives are Instantly, Smartlead, Lemlist and Salesforge for the sequencer half, and AiSDR, Agent Frank and 11x for the AI SDR half. I checked each price on the vendor's own pricing page in October 2026.
| Tool | Half | Entry price | New contacts at that price | Commitment | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Instantly | Sequencer | $47/mo | 1,000 | Monthly | Email-only volume with unlimited connected inboxes and warmup |
| Smartlead | Sequencer | $39/mo | 2,000 | Monthly | Agencies and the lowest price per contact |
| Lemlist | Sequencer | $109/mo per user | No contact cap, data extra | Monthly | Email and LinkedIn in one sequence |
| Salesforge | Sequencer | $40/mo | 1,000 | Monthly, no contract | A cheap start with one LinkedIn sender |
| AiSDR | AI SDR | $250/mo | 200 | Month to month | Testing an AI SDR without a long contract |
| Agent Frank | AI SDR | $499/mo | 2,000+ | Billed quarterly | The lowest AI SDR price per contact |
| 11x Alice | AI SDR | $3,750/mo | 2,000 | Billed annually | Larger teams that want managed inboxes and CRM sync |
| Ken | Done for you | See pricing | Leads included | See pricing | Teams that want people to run outreach and approve before anything sends |
Source: vendor pricing pages, checked October 2026, n = 8 tools. Cheapest published tier, monthly list price divided by new contacts per month as each vendor defines them. Sequencer prices exclude data and inboxes. AI SDR prices include data.
On the sequencer side, Instantly is the closest swap if you only use Reply for email. Smartlead is the cheapest per contact as you grow. Lemlist is the closest match to Reply's Multichannel plan, since LinkedIn steps sit in the same sequence as email. Salesforge is the interesting one. Like Reply, it sells both halves, a $40 sequencer and the Agent Frank AI SDR.
On the AI side, AiSDR is the cheapest way to try an AI SDR month to month, at $250 for 200 contacts. Agent Frank costs less than half of Jason per contact at 2,000 contacts, $0.25 against $0.60, but you book a demo first and pay quarterly. 11x lists Alice at $3,750 a month billed annually, though its own FAQ says the plan starts at $36,000 a year, so confirm the number with sales. Either way, it fits teams that already know outbound works for them. Artisan publishes no prices, so I left it out of the table. For contract terms across that whole category, read our breakdown of AI SDR alternatives.
Where does Ken fit?
Ken runs cold email and LinkedIn outreach for B2B companies, done for you, on infrastructure we own. That's a third option. You don't operate a tool, and no AI sends on its own.
We bring the leads from a database of 300M+ B2B contacts. Human copywriters build the email frameworks. AI fills them with real prospect data, an AI quality check reviews every email, and nothing goes out until you approve the first send. For how to read the numbers any vendor quotes you, see our cold email benchmarks.
Ken isn't the right pick for everyone. If you have the hours and like running outreach yourself, a sequencer will cost you less. If you're stuck between the two, this guide on cold email tools vs a done-for-you service walks through the trade-off.
Frequently asked questions
Is Reply.io good for cold email?
Yes, for many teams. Reply.io scores 4.6 on Trustpilot and reports 4.6 on G2. In its low-star reviews, the most common complaints are support, billing and bugs.
What is the cheapest Reply.io alternative?
Smartlead's Base plan is $39 a month for 2,000 active leads, about 2 cents per contact. Salesforge Pro at $40 and Instantly Growth at $47 are close behind. Budget for contact data and the inboxes you send from on top of all three.
Is Jason AI worth the price?
Jason AI is worth it if it saves you more hours than its premium costs and you'd send its emails as written. At 1,000 contacts a month, the premium over doing it yourself on Reply is about $496 on monthly billing and $206 on annual. Test it in copilot mode before you let it send on its own.
Can I cancel Reply.io anytime?
Reply.io lists monthly billing for Email Volume, Multichannel and Jason. In the low-star reviews I read, 8 of 59 describe an annual plan or auto-renewal that caught them out, and several describe refunds that were turned down. Get the cancellation and renewal terms in writing before you start.
Which Reply.io alternative is best for LinkedIn?
Lemlist's Multichannel plan puts LinkedIn steps in the same sequence as email, for $109 per user a month. Salesforge Growth includes unlimited LinkedIn senders for $96 a month, or $80 on yearly billing, with a monthly cap on LinkedIn actions. Reply charges $69 per LinkedIn account on Email Volume. Each LinkedIn account can only safely send so many connection requests a day, so the number of accounts sets how many people you can reach. Here's how LinkedIn's connection limit works.
The short version
Decide which half of Reply.io you're replacing before you compare tools. If you'll run it yourself, a sequencer plus good data is the cheapest path, and the data is where most of the money goes. If you won't, compare AI SDRs on contract length and approval mode, not just price per contact.
If you'd rather have people do the work while you approve what goes out, your first campaign with Ken is free.
