Connect Ken to Perplexity with MCP
Perplexity adds Ken's remote MCP server as a custom remote connector. Open Plugins, choose Add custom, add a remote MCP connector with OAuth and Streamable HTTP, then select the Ken card to sign in. In an organization, an admin must allow custom connectors first.
How Do You Connect Ken to Perplexity?
In short Add https://mcp.ken.so/mcp as a remote MCP server in Perplexity, then sign in to Ken in your browser.
Open Plugins
Select Plugins in the Perplexity sidebar. If you do not see Plugins yet, open Customize > Connectors instead.
Add an MCP Connector
Choose Add custom > Connector > Add MCP connector, then select Remote.
Fill In the Ken Server
Name it Ken and paste the server URL below as the MCP Server URL. Set Authentication to OAuth and Transport to Streamable HTTP. Ken supports dynamic client registration, so leave the client ID and secret empty.
https://mcp.ken.so/mcpAdd It and Sign In
Tick the box that acknowledges the risks of custom connectors and select Add. Then select the Ken card on the Plugins page to start the sign-in. Your browser opens the Ken sign-in. Sign in with the account you use in the Ken app, then select Allow access on the Ken approval screen. You never paste a client ID or secret.
What Can You Ask Ken From Perplexity?
In short Ask in plain language. The client picks the Ken tool, and Ken runs it with your workspace role.
| Ask | Ken tool used | What the tool does |
|---|---|---|
| Find VPs of Sales at US software companies with 50 to 200 employees. | search_read | Searches Ken's people and company database and returns filter facets. |
| Which fintech companies in Germany have more than 100 employees? Search Ken's 250M people and 24M companies. | search_read | Searches Ken's people and company database and returns filter facets. |

| How did my campaigns do this week? Show sends, replies and bounces for each one. | analytics_read | Reads campaign performance, engagement, deliverability and reply classifications. |
| Show me the replies that came in today and summarize each one. | threads_read | Lists inbox threads and reads their messages. |
Admins and members get read and write tools. View-only members get read tools plus inbox replies.
What If Ken Does Not Connect in Perplexity?
In short Most failures come from a skipped sign-in step or a client setting.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The Ken card shows an error tag | Perplexity could not validate the server during setup. Open the card's menu, choose to modify it, and check that the URL is exactly the Ken server URL with https. |
| You see no Plugins page or no Add custom option | Personal accounts can use Customize > Connectors while Plugins rolls out. In an organization, ask an admin to turn on Allow members to add custom connectors, which is off by default. |
| A Ken tool answers "Missing scope" | Part of the Ken approval screen was declined. Remove Ken from the client, add it again and select Allow access. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a Ken API key in Perplexity?
Perplexity offers an API Key option for custom connectors, but its docs do not say how it sends the key. Use OAuth for Ken, which Perplexity supports with dynamic client registration.
Do I need Perplexity Enterprise to add Ken?
Perplexity's docs do not tie custom connectors to a plan for individual accounts. In an organization, an admin has to allow members to add custom connectors, and only admins can share a connector with everyone.
Does Perplexity check that an MCP server is safe?
No. Perplexity says it does not verify third-party MCP servers, which is why it asks you to acknowledge the risk. Ken's server is run by Ken and only acts with the access you allow on the Ken approval screen.
What can Perplexity change in my Ken workspace?
Only what your Ken role allows. Admins and members get read and write tools, including campaign launches. View-only members get read tools plus inbox replies. Ken checks your role on every call, so a role change applies right away.
The new Ken opens to the waiting list in batches.
