What the ICP generator does

Enter a company website. The generator reads the homepage and up to four key pages, such as pricing, customers and about, and writes an ideal customer profile:

  • What the company sells and who pays for it, in two lines.
  • Three buyer segments, ranked by fit, each with a company count.
  • Job titles, departments and seniority of the people who buy.
  • Industries, company size bands and countries.
  • Buying triggers that make now a good time, and disqualifiers that rule a company out.

Every filter uses the same values as Ken's People Search, so the profile ends with a live count of matching companies and people, not a document you can't act on.

How to read and edit your ICP

Treat the first draft as a starting point. The generator only knows what your website says, and if the site talks to everyone, the profile will too. Remove a chip with its x or add your own, and the counts update as you go.

Watch the count. In the millions, the profile is too broad to write one email for, so narrow the titles or the size band. In the hundreds, check that each filter is a must-have and not a nice-to-have. People counts cover the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand.

How to use an ICP in outbound

A good ICP decides three things in a campaign:

  • Who goes on the list. Industries, sizes and titles become search filters.
  • What the email says. Segments and triggers give each email a reason to exist, such as a funding round, a hiring push or a market they just entered.
  • Who stays off the list. Disqualifiers save sends, and every send to a bad fit is a chance at a spam complaint.

Copy or download the profile as Markdown to share with your team, or email it to yourself with a saved link that keeps your edits. To pull the people, start free and run the same filters in Ken's People Search.

ICP vs buyer persona

An ICP describes the company that should buy: industry, size, location and the situation it's in. A buyer persona describes the person inside it who signs or champions the deal: title, seniority and what they care about.

Outbound needs both. The ICP picks the accounts and the persona picks who to email at each one. That's why this profile lists titles and departments next to the company filters.

Questions

What is an ideal customer profile (ICP)?
An ICP describes the companies that get the most value from what you sell and are most likely to buy: their industry, size, location and the situation that makes them a fit. It's the filter you build lists from. A buyer persona goes one level down, to the person you email inside each of those companies.
How do I find my ICP?
Start with your best current customers, the ones who bought fastest, pay the most and stay longest, and look for what they share in industry, size, region and trigger events. If you don't have customers yet, start from your website and offer, which is what this generator does. Then test the profile with a small campaign and narrow it by who replies.
How accurate is an AI-generated ICP?
As accurate as your website is specific. The generator reads up to five of your pages and maps what it finds to real search filters, so every value matches something in Ken's database. It can't know which customers pay you the most. Edit the draft with what you know, and treat the first campaign as the real test.
What does the count include?
Companies count on the industry, size and country rows. People count on every row: they work at those companies and match the job titles, departments and seniority too. People counts cover the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand. You see numbers only, never names.
Is the ICP generator free?
Yes. Three profiles a day need no sign-up. After that a work email unlocks more for the day, because each profile costs a model call to write. Editing chips and recounting never uses a run. Building the actual list happens in the app, on the free plan.
